Player Information

Conor Jones is an experienced bowler in the top 2 divisions of the Cherwell League and has only ever made appearances for the 1st XI at Challow since becoming a regular member in 2012. This experience at a still young age of 26 has recently had his role of leadership promoted to the club vice-captain and will be a key leader in the dressing room.
Along with his Saturday role being crucial as vice-captain and the senior seam bowler in the seemingly daunting bowling attack for this upcoming season, he will be taking on captaincy for the Challow T20 cup competition team. Conor is expecting to play 4 times a week due to this extra commitment, showing his clear dedication and will for the club's success.
Statistically, the seamer has proven his value to the team for the last number of seasons. Since 2014, Conor has taken 154 at 20 a piece- the most by anyone in Challow's first team in this period despite battling injury in recent years. Last season Conor was the club's leading wicket taker with 12 in the reduced season at a staggering average of 13 runs per wicket; a season which was spent among division 1 teams as well as Challow's upcoming division 2 opposition.
Although big scores are to be desired for Jones, he has proven his hard-hitting ability playing key cameo roles on multiple occasions in the lower order in recent years. Most noticeably, Jones scored an unbeaten 49 last season against Sandford St. Martin which created a fightback opportunity although unfortunately eventually running out of partners, leaving him stranded and denying him of his first Challow 1st XI half-century.
We can expect Conor to be an exciting watch for the 1st team this season with his extra presence in the first team as vice-captain adding more responsibility to his senior bowler leadership and can potentially add to his previous cameos with some handy runs down the order and more examples of superb catches in the field as we have seen on many occasions as he has matured through time as a 1st XI player and leader.
