Freddie Robson is best known for his free-flowing strokeplay at the top of the order. The 19-year-old stamped his authority on the 1st team last season as he top scored for runs across the season in what was a struggling year for the runs at the club. Accumulating 170 runs in 6 innings, he had one of the three half centuries for the 1st XI last season with a 69 in a thrilling tie against Bledlow Village.
Starting his Cherwell career at just 13, Freddie always was a high scoring opener who enjoyed a lot of success throughout his youth career at Challow by winning multiple county championships at a variety of ages, hence leading him to a senior callup at such a young age. Freddie took it into his stride as the young opener recorded a half century in his first Cherwell season pushing him up into the 2nd team at 14 and becoming a key member at 15. In 2018 he scored an unbeaten 88 in an opening partnership of 176 with Pat Bryan for the 2nd XI.
In 2019, Robson was given his first real chance to make a mark on the 1st team making 7 appearances but failed to have a devastating impact. However, due to his performance throughout the reduced 2020 season we should expect to see the young, exciting opener play a key role in the performance of the 1st team for this upcoming 2021 season.
