Player Information

This former club captain is ever present in 1st XI fixtures, playing in 103 out of 108
matches between 2014 and 2019 in cherwell fixtures. As captain Gordon took the
1st XI to promotion from division 2, showing his great leadership which will be
good to see in a more backseat role this upcoming season. Known for his hard
hitting and fast scoring batting approach, Gordon has recorded multiple 3 figure
scores in his already long career for the 1st XI. Gordon's best season statistically
contained a staggering 863 runs at an average of 71, including 4 centuries and a
top score of 150 off just 98 balls.
In 2019, Challow 1st XI struggled to consistantely score runs at the top of the
order, forcing Gordon to develop his game to play in many unwanted batting
scenarios and batting to value his wicket, making him a threat to any bowling team
regardless of the score.
Despite his batting prowess, Gordon has also played the role of a second spinner
in recent years, providing consistant economies in the new limited over format.
Gordon took figures of 6-36 in 2019, as his second cherwell league 5 wicket haul,
making his role in the first XI even more crucial for the upcoming season. For a
man with a large stature, he is also valuable to the team in the slip cordon and
also at a short cover position, getting down to the ball at a great athletic ability to
save many runs in the infield.
Gordon suffered a shoulder injury throughout the reduced 2020 season and hence
struggled to be as destructive with the bat in his 3 innings for the first XI last
season despite still averaging 51.
Gordon's impact in 2021 will be highly anticipated with a new captain in place.
