Player Information

Player Profile: Ross Packham
Ross Packham, underniably one of Challow's brightest stars when he broke onto the scene 10 years ago, still performing at the highest level for Challow and another player who has been through the ups and downs of promotions and relegations in recent years. At only 22 years old, Ross Packham looked to have had huge potential when he took 7-10 for Challow 3rd XI aged just 12. Playing in the 1st XI since the age of 14, he established his position in the side immediately when taking a remarkable 20 wickets in his opening season in 2013.
Hampered by injuries, Packham's career took a hit at a young age and struggled to bowl a lot of overs in 2014,2015 and then again in 2019. When at his best, spectators and fellow players alike can say he is naturally gifted with the ball in his hand. Adding something different to the 1st team bowling left arm, he is always trying to attack the stumps and make the batsman play, making him even more effective in his role as the new ball bowler. In the reduced COVID season of 2020, Packham enjoyed success taking 10 wickets at 17 a piece. His best figures however, came in 2017 with a remarkable 6 wicket haul at Jordan Hill in an eventual loss to Oxford 2nds, but a bowling performance which was a joy to watch by the then 19 year old.
In the field, Packham also adds plenty of quality to the side, always with a positive approach he is one you can expect to bring a piece of magic with a spectacular catch or a run out from nothing.
Off the field, Packham is a delight for the club. Coming into a senior team so young can be difficult for anyone but he rose to the occasion and is a key social member in the dressing room who is a joy to talk to for anyone at the club.
It is fair to say, Ross Packham is a pleasure to have at Challow and can be a crucial part of Harris' promotion charge this season with the new ball in his hand and his athleticism in the field.
