Challow 1st v Oxford

What to say and remain objective? We were privileged to see a display of hitting like no other yesterday, with at least 20 sixes. The man' s hitting was to subtlety what King Herod was to child-minding. Although he did play a cut so late as to be positively posthumous. To watch a 1st class cricketer and see how he targeted the shorter boundary was an eye-opener. And to be fair, most of the sixes would have cleared a full-sized field anyway.
But what was the point of it all? In fact our newly appointed member of the club's diplomatic corps (Warblers) asked the batsman that very question!
So the contradiction here is a fantastic display the like of which has never been seen in our 48 years up on the hill, balanced against the sheer pointlessness of it.
We wish him well and I'll watch his progress over the next few months. Given this type of wicket, some teams are going to take a beating.
